Integrative Trauma Informed Practitioner & Somatic Practitioner
Rey Gigante (she/they) is a queer, nonbinary somatic practitioner whose focus is on helping other people in the LGBTQIA2S+ community heal their trauma and live more authentically. Her approach is eclectic, borrowing from various methodologies to meet clients’ individual needs and preferences. In addition to traditional breathwork and meditation modalities, their work is informed by BBTRS (Biodynamic Breathwork Trauma Release System) and Somatic Experiencing techniques. Trauma release happens within the context of a trusting relationship, and Rey’s goal is to provide a safe container in which you are deeply seen, valued, and held in this vulnerable work.
Prior to becoming certified as an Integrative Trauma Informed Practitioner, Rey was a tenured professor and has over a decade of experience as a researcher, educator, and published author. She has a PhD in English Language and Literature from The University of Maryland (2012). Having spent the entirety of their working life in academia, Rey experienced the life-changing effects of somatics first-hand and decided to apply their talents to a vocation that aligns with their values. Rey’s practice is feminist, anti-racist, culturally sensitive, and neurodivergent-affirming.
