Licensed Social Worker @ Perez Therapy, LLC
Choosing a therapist is difficult, to say the least – it’s a major investment, in terms of your time, finances, and energy, and it has the capacity to transform your life for better and for worse. I’m keenly aware of how much trust and risk it takes to start with someone new – to tell your story, often for the second, third, or fourth time – and to work collaboratively to derive complex meaning out of your life.
A central tenet of my approach is supporting you toward discovering and working with the roots of your patterns, not just the surface. Together, we will alchemize your story and its various parts into something actionable which improves your quality of life. Whether helping partners rebuild trust or families reimagine their shared story, I bring a calm, attuned presence and a systems perspective that allows patterns to surface and transformation to unfold. Our work will be relational, goal-oriented, and intentional.
As a queer individual and ally to the BIPOC, alternatively-abled, and trans communities, I am particularly drawn to working with queer individuals and non-traditional relationship structures. My primary goal is to support and affirm the unique ways you create connection, safety, and meaning in your life, while consistently addressing the real systemic threats to your safety and stability as it impacts mental health symptoms and day-to-day functioning. At no point will I suggest that a single coping skill or alternative thought will transform your life alone – there is no single solution to anything that brings you into the therapy room. What we can do is co-discover incremental changes to create long-lasting and supportive structures in your life, improve your relationship to community, and increase your awareness of those sticky, repetitive patterns when they come up.
I look forward to connecting with you!
